RAJ PANJWANI

Raj Panjwani is one of India’s leading animal advocates. He travelled to Australia as part of a ten-day speaking tour for Voiceless at many of the country’s leading law schools. Mr Panjwani, who has advocated on behalf of animals ranging from buffaloes to bears, provided rare insights for lawyers and non-lawyers alike into the cutting edge field of animal law.

Few lawyers can claim to have changed as many lives over the course of their careers as Raj Panjwani. In the last two decades Mr Panjwani has continually broken new ground for animals in the courtroom, working as legal counsel for India’s peak environmental and animal protection organisations. In 2002, the Supreme Court of India Bar Association acknowledged his remarkable efforts by awarding him a citation for ’Adding Knowledge to the Practice of Law’.
