LECTURE SERIES SPEAKERS

The 2013 Animal Law Lecture Series is an opportunity to hear from leaders in animal law. Our speakers will share their knowledge on the current positioning of animal law and the potential for future developments.

CAROLINE LE COUTEUR

Caroline Le Couteur has recently served four years as an elected member of the ACT Legislative Assembly where she was the ACT Greens Animal Welfare spokesperson, as well as Planning, Arts, Business and Heritage spokesperson.  Caroline also chaired the Public Accounts Committee that oversees government expenditure. Previously she was a Founding Director and ICT Manager of an ASX listed funds manager, Australian Ethical Investment Limited.

Before that Caroline was a manager in the Federal Government in the Information and communication technologies and renewable energy policy areas and served for 17 years on the Council of the Australian Conservation Foundation.  Caroline has a passionate interest in justice for sentient beings – both human and non-human – and has been a vegetarian for around thirty years.

Caroline will present at the Canberra Law Lecture Series on Wednesday 8 May at the Australian National University. In her presentation, Caroline will discuss the political issues surrounding animal law and where it sits in the local/state/federal hierarchy.
