LECTURE SERIES SPEAKERS

The 2015 Animal Law Lecture Series is an opportunity to hear from leaders in animal law and policy from across the country. Our speakers will share their knowledge of the philosophy of property law, habeas corpus and the prospects for reform in the way nonhuman animals are treated in Australia and overseas.

Ken Henry

KEN HENRY AC

Dr Ken Henry AC is an economist and public servant who served as the Secretary of the Department of the Treasury from 2001 to 2011. He has been a Voiceless Council member since 2009.

Ken has been influential in Australian and international economics for much of his career. He has worked alongside both Labor and Liberal governments and represented Australia at numerous international and intergovernmental economic forums. His tenure as Treasury Secretary also allowed him to serve on the board of the Reserve Bank of Australia.

Currently, Ken is a member of the Board of Directors on the Reconciliation Australia Board, a Director of ASX as well as National Australia Bank and Executive Chair of the Institute of Public Policy at the Australian National University.

He was awarded the Companion of the Order of Australia in 2007, his citation included an acknowledgement of his “care for native wildlife.”

Ken will present at the keynote lecture at University of Sydney on Thursday 30 April and at Baker & McKenzie on Friday 1 May.
