The 2015 Animal Law Lecture Series is an opportunity to hear from leaders in animal law and policy from across the country. Our speakers will share their knowledge of the philosophy of property law, habeas corpus and the prospects for reform in the way nonhuman animals are treated in Australia and overseas.

Lisa Baker

The Hon. Lisa Baker MP was elected to the Western Australian Parliament in 2008 and again in 2012 representing the electorate of Maylands. Lisa is Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business, Communities and Women, and Chairs the WA Parliament’s Joint Standing Committee on the Commissioner for Children and Young People. Unofficially, she is WA Labor’s champion for animals and in 2010 wrote WA Labor’s first discussion paper on animal welfare. She has been successful in establishing WA Labor’s live export policy and has seen puppy farming added to WA Labor’s policy platform.

Lisa will speak at the University of Western Australia on Monday 11 May.
