The 2012 Animal Law Lecture Series was an opportunity to hear from leaders in animal and environmental law. Our speakers shared their expertise on the commercial hunting of kangaroos and seals.



Ariane is the Planning & Environment Solicitor at the Environmental Defenders Office, Qld.

She holds degrees in Law (Honours) and Environmental Science from Griffith University and a Graduate Diploma (Legal Practice) from the Australian National University.

Ariane served as an Associate to a Judge in the Queensland Planning and Environment Court and completed 18 months with the courts as the Associate to the President of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Prior to joining the EDO Qld Ariane practiced in environment and planning law at a large national law firm and worked in the areas of planning and environment litigation, environmental compliance and project approvals.

As the EDO Qld Planning & Environment Solicitor, Ariane provides numerous hours of free legal advice to individuals, community groups and environmental groups seeking to protect the environment in the public interest.

In addition, Ariane contributes to the community legal education and law reform advocacy work of the office.  Ariane’s work with the EDO Qld empowers individuals and the community to be involved in the environmental decisions that affect them and the quality of life in their community.

Through her role at the EDO Qld Ariane maintains an interest and involvement in the protection of native wildlife, including kangaroos, koalas and flying foxes.

Ariane presented at Bond University on the Gold Coast and Griffiths University in Brisbane.
